Nåløyet not following their own guidelines?
A few days later, while enjoying my new healthy breakfast, it suddenly struck me – something is not quite right on the list of nominees.
To be nominated for Nåløyet, you have to satisfy a set of criteria, one of them being:
The designer must be within the category prêt-à- porter (ready-to-wear) or accessories.
This year Henne has split these two categories to distinguish ready-to-wear from accessories designers. Looking at the nominees, one designer definitely does not fall into the prêt-à- porter category. Don’t get me wrong, I take my hat off for the designer and the creative design, but it is not ready-to-wear. I even dare say that Fam Irvoll did not fall into this category until just recent.
I believe it is important for the integrity of the design prize, that Henne stick by their own criteria. We need more ready-to-wear designers and Nåløyet is a valuable recognition that the designer has achieved this.
