Excellent collection from debutant

Today’s biggest surprise was the SS2011 collection ‘Sea and sky’ from Mariette.

The collection showed a strong feminine side and was one of the few collections that had not tried to be “different” – something that has somewhat become ad hoc standard for Norwegian designers.

The collection is inspired by nature and what is has to offer. Using very light colours, the colecton was very pleasing to the eye.

Designer Mariette Røed Torjussen had used fabrics such as silk, chiffon, taffeta and organza. Throughout the collection, we could see two signature details; Seashells and lazing in the back.

This is definitely a designer to keep an eye on.

  1. Personally I thought a lot of the garments looked like costumes, and I found the designs to be a bit premature. Sorry..
  2. Yeah, I've heard others say the same. But after loking at so many bad collections from norwegian designer this year, I really found these show pieces plesing to the eye. If she can produce something more user friendsly, I think she could do well.
  3. I think she makes lovely dresses. I would love to wear them AND sell them in MY shop. I love the cut pieces that reveal skin....The colours and fabrics make them sensual instead of sexy.
