Your guide to Oslo Fashion Week
Here’s a little guide on what is going in and around Oslo Fashion week. You will also find answers to the most frequent question I get in regards of Oslo Fashion Week.

Note. In 2011 events is not as synchronised as they normally are due to changes of dates at Copenhagen Fashion Week. So in February we’ll have two weeks of fashion events instead of the usual one week. – Moteuka 7-13 February and OFW 15-20 February.

Oslo Fashion Week

Oslo Fashion Week (OFW) is currently the only commercial arena for designers to promote their collection in Norway. OFW had their first show in February 2004 and has since held two shows per year. OFW is normally held at Oslo Kongressenter.

Oslo Fashion Fair

Oslo Fashion Fair (OFF) has closed their doors. OFF was launched in February 2009 and was the largest fashion fair since the Fashion Trade Fair at Sjølyst.

Moteuka

With over 200 show rooms and more than 500 brands, Moteuka is currently Norways largest fashion trade fair. Moteuka is run by Norsk Moteforum and is Norways leading shopping centre for the
Norwegian Textile Industry. Moteuka is located at Sjølyst.

Oslo Fashion Awards

Oslo Fashion Awards (OFA) is Norways biggest (and only) Fashion Award for fashion stores. OFA travels around Norway and nominates stores to participate in the main competition for ‘Fashion store of the year’. This event is held in Oslo, usually at Folketeatret.

Skomessen

Skomessen is Norways trade fair for the shoe industry and is held at Helsfyr in Oslo. Skomessen is open the entire year and can be visited by appointment.

FAQ

Where can I purchase tickets for OFW?
Oslo fashion week is an open door event. This means that anyone can come and look at the shows. But you are not guaranteed seating. If you want seating, you have to contact the different designers.

First day is always closed doors and you can only participate by invitation.

How do I contact designer to get on the guest list?
If you have participated in previous shows, you most likely will get an invitation. Otherwise you have to send an e-mail and ask to be set up on the guest list. Many designers also announce their shows through Facebook.

When can I see what designers will be at Oslo Fashion Week?
Usually Oslo Fashion Week will publish their schedule two weeks before the show starts.

I want to be a volunteer for Oslo Fashion Week. Who should I contact?
If you want to work for Oslo Fashion Week, a good starting point would be to contact the project manager Annikken Vear.

I want to take pictures during the OFW. Who should I contact?
To take photos during the shows, you will need to have accreditation. You can apply for press accreditation through OFW’s website.

I’m a blogger and I want to take pictures. Do I also need accreditation?
From what I have observed, only press needs accreditation.

I’m a designer and I want to apply to participate. What should I do?
If you are a designer and want to show your collection at Oslo Fashion Week, you must fill out an application form. Contact the project manager for OFW for more information.

I want to be a runway model. What can I do?
Normally models are selected through model agencies. Agencies I know have been used earlier are Heartbreak, Team and Vibe International. Some designers also use their own models.

How old do I have to be to participate on a fashion show?
As long as they do not serve alcohol, I think you can be of any age. Moods of Norway for instance, you have to be 20 – since they serve alcohol at their event.
