The children collection, Little cupcaces opened the show doing acrobatics and dancing down the catwalk. The collection was filled with onepieces, tights and knitted garments with scary ghost prints, pastel colors, stripes and bows in true Fam style.

The synth-electro band Tomorrow we move to Hawaii and a fashion film by Marie Kristensen kicked off a more wearable adult collection than we have seen in previous collections from Fam.

It was characterized by ghost prints, mucus, pastel colors as light pink and mint green. Knitted sweaters and dresses combined with tulle skirts, big 3D monsters and the new collaboration shoes: Platform sneakers.

The show was playful and fun filled with classic hits from the 80s as Ghostbusters.

CALA & JADE was established by the Norwegian design duo Nina Amble Sandaas and Tina C. Skaar. They met while studying three years at ESMOD fashion school in Oslo

CALA & JADE, women’s alter ego represents the interaction between two fictional characters CALA, refined, original and sensual and JADE, edgy, androgynous and playful.

- It is really good to be awarded. We have worked hard with the Cala & Jade collection. We get a lot of our inspiration for the shape, lines and details of the geometric architecture, art and styles such as Art Deco and the stilj.

They also find inspiration in people on the street and with nature. Music and movies are also important impression to the mood and colours.

It is not enough looking good. Nina Amble Sandaas and Tina C. Skaar want the bags and accessories in their collections to implement functionality.

- It is a lot of thinking behind the structure and functions of CALA & JADEs products.

This is what they feel separates them from other handbag brands. Our main model is a good example of this. Cala & Jade’s bestseller, Gumma, has innovative functions that provide multiple bags in one.

A detachable leather frame makes that the inner bag can be replaced to suit your mood, style or season.

-In our Summer 2012 collection we introduces our Cala & Jade a mini version of the Gumma: The model Gumini. The mini version has the same innovative features and capabilities. Another examples are the new clutch. It can be clutch, ipad sleeve or makeup bag.

Quality materials and craftsmanship is an important part of CALA & JADE. Among others they uses quality leather from Scandinavia and Italy.

In SS12 AND AW12 collection they also use the material, skin from, Nordic salmon

- a fascinating and environmentally friendly material.

Cala & Jade turns bad to good using a material that traditionally hits the garbage- can.

- The award means a lot to us. Nåløyet is the most important prize in Norwegian Fashion.

The brand was established in 2008 and now sells in Norway and internationally, particularly in Japan.

Your body speaks volumes, even when you are silent. The Japan inspired outside are beautiful and silent in classical colours. The Man wearing it does the talking. Nothing wrong with traditional rainwear but it is mainly for sports.

If you choose rainwear from Norwegian Rain you don´t have to be the yellow guy.

-We get a lot of feedback from satisfied customers. Many report that their rain jacket gets much attention. Among other things they like the fact that Norwegian Rain look past the trendy patterns and bright colors.

They don’t compromise on quality. The materials are organic cotton and recycled polyester from Japan, and jackets are lined with a breathable membrane on the inside. It is waterproof and the seams are sealed.

The style and the clothes look tailor-made. High-tech item is not in focus, you will not think that there is a rain coat. The collection fits everyone from the biker to the businessman. What about wearing the Raincho – a quirky and sculptural contrast to the suit or just an airy and comfortable wear of functionable clothing. The two inner bike handles makes it an interesting alternative to urban bicyclers. The Storm Flap is made with cashmere lining for ultimate comfort on cold and windy days.

The collection consists of jackets and coats for men. If it is pouring rain outside. – don´t be sad. Norwegian Rain Makes Everything Better. You don`t need bright colours to shine.

In February they release a preview of the new women’s model. As a test Norwegian Rain will offer 40 raincoats for women in 2012. Twenty of them will be sold in Norway and the other twenty will be sold in Tokyo.

-I am inspired by The Empire Of The Sun. It is characteristic that it has a touch of gold.

The models look hot in leather and stunning in gold. There is no conflict between the raw and the elegant look. In pieces from Genaro Rivas you can have it both.

The show was a fusion of modern interpretation of ancient history. The Newcomer of the year showed pieces inspired by Impire Of The Sun, the Redken & Loreal Paris Trend Show and the designers show made it clear that the sixties office girl is hot.

The Redken & Loreal Paris Trend Show gave us futuristic views. The models entered the catwalk in plastic and wet “directly from the shower hair”. The intro meets retro as they walk. We really liked the Madmen 60´s style look. One of the biggest trends for the 2012 spring and summer season is the look of retro hairstyles. Together with S/S 2012 outfits the look is either completely effortless, or surprisingly sexy.

Norwegian top designers Armando Santos, Kristine Vikse, Lillunn Design of Norway, Sadoni, Moods of Norway, Vera & William, Norwegian Couture, Nora Farah, Annie Beach, Florence, Morami, Chill Norway, Judith Bech , TSH and Fabel Norway shared a taste of their Fall/Winter collections 2013. Oslo Fashion Week provides an insight to this year’s fashion trends and what to expect finding its way into trendy men and woman`s closet.

Moods Of Norway showed us an example of the floral trend: A delicate suit strewn with flowers. I never promised you a rose-garden, but a bouquet in February makes us yearn for summer.

The bouquet of designers gave us wool, lots of wool, leather, prints, pastels and traditional autumn colors like black, brown, grey, but also wonderful blue. What about wearing a outfit inspired by the national costume. It’s nice in a weird way. We saw good examples of suits, preppy suits, jackets with school uniform look, ethnic prints, print inspired by the knitting. The poncho is hot and the 70`s plaid coat is back.

We got a glimpse of skin through transparent materials. Models in beautiful and exclusive evening gowns entered the podium. Pastels make us wanting the sweet life. We saw the delicate lingerie in soft cotton. The non-traditional bride was on the podium – a startling wild, beautiful bride dressed in rags.

This F/W 2013 color report captures the mood of the season with Modern Flair, Sheer Perfection, Kiss and Make-up, and Dark Illusion.

As a trademark of Azzopardi, the models entered the runway in underwear and got dressed in pieces of the collection hanging on racks along the runway during the show.
The entire collection was an all-in-black adventure with few elements of blue velvet and batik pattern on chosen pieces. ‘And together We Come’ is the third and last part of the line previously presented in the collections ‘We Arrive in Pieces’ and ‘& Pieces Are Added’.

Azzopardi stays true to his laid-back yet sensual signature showing soft garments in cotton, wool and viscose. Cutting is given huge attention by keeping simplistic and straight-forward lines. Cardigans with draping, basic jerseys and thin sweaters are characteristic for Azzopardi’s work, and this collection is no exception. The surprising element was the expansion into woman’s wear. Casual short dresses were seen frequently with or without details such as draping.

–The inspiration behind this collection is built on a vision of bringing together the previous seasons collections, sort of crystallizing it all in one. However, this collection is not as broken up as the previous ones in terms of the manufacturing part, says Azzopardi.

–This time I had the collection arriving more completed than last time when it arrived in pieces as required. On the question of his future plans, Azzopardi says there is one goal set on mind; growth. Developing, exploring and continuing the hard work is what lays ahead for the enchanting designer.

–I was recently attending the Tranoï fair in Paris, and was able to show my work to a lot of interesting people.
This was fun and inspiring, something I’ll definitely do again. We look forward to see what more will come from the Oslo based designer in the future.

Eary’s inspiration lies within skeletons in the closet, decay and beautiful boys who give in to heroin addiction. This is seen clearly in the clothes in which motifs of snakes and screaming skulls reflect the inner riot with amazing mirror-prints. A strong 90′s underground fashion can be seen throughout the collections with tight trousers in neon and sparkling synthetic materials.

The clothes are made couture-style with Swarovski crystals, the finest wool fabrics, soft jerseys and leather. A stark contrast to Savile Row’s bespoke suits, but parallels are still taken as Eary’s clothing is also tailored to the highest standard.

Harvey Nichols in exclusive West London, currently has Katie Eary’s clothes hanging together with a small installation of what inspires her. Skulls of various small animals, and jars with colored water and mussels. Neatly hanging around the installation are her t-shirts in psychedelic snake / tarantula / skull prints. Soft to touch, and mind-blowing to look at.

We meet Kristian Aadnevik couple hours before his runway show for Riccovero at OFW for a quick talk.
-So Kristian, this is your third line for Riccovero, what is the difference between your line for Riccovero and your own fashion line?
-This is more commercial clothing, everybody can find something they like and it is more affordable.

Kristian does not feel like it conflicts with his own creative wishes for his clothing. He collaborates with Riccovero’s designers, but still is given a lot of room of creativity. After all he is Kristian Aadnevik and celebs like Rihanna and Madonna are not wearing his clothes for nothing.

The expectations were high: we’re talking about the Norwegian designer king of sexy rock’n roll chick.
-I always have very high expectations of Kristian. His clothes are very sexy, yet glamorous and edgy, says Signy Fardal, Editor in Chief for Elle Magazine.
-We are used to see a lot of extravaganza from Aadnevik, but today he seems to have played more safe than we are used to. It was somewhat more Riccovero than a Kristian Aadnevik touch to it.

Signy states that this is only being because she is used to Kristians brilliance and therefor the aim is higher.

See Aadnevik’s collection here.

The collection was somewhat true to Aadneviks rock’n roll style: black studded dresses came passing by at the runway accompanied by the tunes of rock’n roll, but somehow it was missing some of the x-factor that has market Aadnevik as the top designer he truly is.

That being said, the Riccovero collection is meant for a more commercial market than Kristian Aadneviks own collection that has yet to be shown at London fashion week in September.

And for that one we’re expecting Kristian Aadnevik to surprise with new expressions of ultra-sexy rock’ roll.

The collection consisted of elegant dresses with should straps, jumpsuits, cheek shirts and knee sort shorts. And don’t throw away your jumpsuit just yet, because this trend is continuing into spring / summer 2012.

You can see how Sca Ulven integrates Scandinavian references in their collections by the simplistic cuts, straight lines and pastel colors. Despite the pastel colours, Sca Ulven added some edge to the clothing with black accessories such as wristbands, massive necklaces and hats.

The fabric consists of crêpe de chine and cotton voile with digital prints, wool and silk. With focus on the use of silhouettes and oversized cloth, the collection has become elegant and wearable.

And not surprising, the B and C celebrities get more media coverage than the designers themselves. Ok, that’s a bit unfair. Moods of Norway got a lot of attention, especially Børresen’s pregnant girlfriend.

VG (Minmote.no) mostly writes about what clothes the guests are wearing and the attendance of Moods of Norway designers Simen Staalnacke and that Jenny Skavlan is prioritizing Øya festival (music festival in rainy Norway). Not one comment (as of yet) of what we actually saw on the catwalk.

Dagbladet (Kjendis.no) has a gigantic picture of Kathrine Sørland (the biggest I’ve ever seen in a news site) and not a single word on who was actually showing at OFW. Ok, kjendis.no is a page focusing on the celebrities and not fashion. They do have a good article on why we have so few designers on the runway though.

But from our biggest fashion websites, we see very little. Henne.no, Elle.no, klikk.no/mote and Costume.no has no coverage at all of the OFW.

The only Norwegian fashion website that gives a good coverage of the opening of OFW is KK.no. Here we can read what designers showed their collection and more importantly, what we saw . Well done Cecilie / KK.

I will admit that what we saw on the catwalk isn’t much to write about. There is no high fashion, little creativity and to casual. But we can still write about it. It doesn’t have to be high fashion to write about it. We are Norwegians after all. We are used to wearing rain boots and rain jackets.

I say we should support Norwegian designers. They work hard and deserve a bit of attention, even if it is just 10 minutes of fame.
