Norwegian designer participates in international competition

On 1st July in a small town called Gorizia (Italy), Mittelmoda, one of the most sought-after and well-known fashion competitions at an international level, was held for the 18th time.
This year Mittelmoda received over 700 applications from 55 different countries, and a high-profile judging panel selected 24 finalists, among them the Norwegian designer Siri Sveen Haaland (22). Siri graduated from Esmod in 2009 and got the price for best Menswear.
There was also an additional four finalists for the Levi’s award - for the womanswear collection that best captured the unique spirit of contemporary denim, while upholding the timeless design and craftsmanship standards.
The main fashion show was held outside hotel Entourage, and the place was packed with designers, people from the fashion industry and fashionistas. For the runway, Mittelmoda used professional models from Milano, making the show an enjoyable experience. After the show the jury announced the winners.
Unfortunately we did not see Siri win any prices, even though she had a creative and technical collection. But Siri was just happy to participate – and so the show goes on.
Main prices
The 1st Mittelmoda Award of 10.000 Euro was given to Amanda Grogan from Ireland. As the main winner she will have her collection shown in Milano during Milano Fashion Week. She also received the Lectra Award and The Visual Box Prize – an online press review for a year.
The Sistema Moda Italia (SMI) award of 5.000 Euro, was given to the Spanish designer Ariadna Rovira Lorente for the collection showing the best research.
Pauline van Dongen from Netherland won the Camera Nazionale Della Moda Italiana Award, receiving 2.500 Eruos. The price was given to the most creative collection.
And the last main price, the Jury’s Special Award of 2.000 Eruos, was given to the Croatian designer Igor Galas. His designer knitwear was definitely one of Norwegian Fashions favourites.
