Norwegian Fashion Week re-schedules
This collaboration will further enhance the strength of CFW and the first thing they decided, was to move CFW one week forward. Normally CFW has been held in week 6 & 32, but now they will be held in week 5 & 31.
Copenhagen has become the Ad Hoc Fashion Capital of Scandinavia and many Norwegian designers and buyers attend CFW. So it was natural for Norsk Moteforum to move Moteuka one week (to week 6) to avoid crashing with CFW. Moteuka has since the 60’s been the main arena for fashion on Norway, and other actors in the Norwegian fashion industry have followed Moteuka in terms of events.
Unfortunately not everyone can make the change just as easy.
OFW and Texcon faces the same issues – long-term per-booking of venues. OFW has already booked Oslo Congress Center and has not been able to change the dates because the venue is already booked.
The same goes for Texcon. Normally they have their fair at the end of OFW and book their venue 5 years at a time. Re-booking was not an option as venues and hotels are fully booked.
- This is not something we wanted, so February is a special case. We hope that everything goes back to normal in August next year. If we look on the bright side, the buyers will have more time to do their purchasing, says Paul Bukier, Managin Director at Texcon.
This means that February is not ideal for the Norwegian fashion industry. OFW crashed with both Stockholm Fashion Week and London Fashion Week. But if OFW and Texcon are able to move their event one week in August, then we’ll truly have a flow of Scandinavian Fashion Weeks. First CFW, followed by OFW and then SFW.
